Looking for some more creative options for shooting at home, I found myself some black plexiglass at the local hardware store and brought it home to play with. Using my trusty Alien Bees and Westcott Apollos I made a home studio to shoot some of my smaller subjects.
First I decided to see what kind of drama I could create using the lights and a pair of sunglasses. I took Anna’s new pair of Ray-Bans she got for Christmas and positioned them so the light would highlight the edges, but not reflect in the lens.
I was sure to position the logo prominently just because. I was very pleased with this result, but next time I’ll be sure to go for more emotion. Next I opted to work with a present of mine, a R/C helicopter. First of all, this thing is just a ridiculous amount of fun. I can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent just doing laps around my apartment with this toy. I added a fill light hot shoe flash, snooted and gridded from camera left.
This was a fun bit of work. Similar to some of the work I did with Alex in his studio back in Altanta.
